Walking in, I caught a glimpse of a sign that says Yelpers love them. They know they're good and they got credentials to back it up. Jean-Claude Perennou, the mastermind behind Cannelle, hails from Brittany and is a pastry wizard. He's not just any pastry chef; in 2003, Forbes ranked him fifth among the ten best pastry chefs in the country. Yeah, you read that right. He was the former executive pastry chef at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel before deciding to bless us mortals with Cannelle Patisserie. From the moment I walked in, I knew I was in for a treat. The service? Top-notch. The staff? Super kind and attentive. And the dessert? It left me absolutely SHOOK. The place is cozy and inviting with its minimalist decor, perfect for enjoying a quiet moment with your sweet treat. The dessert display is a visual feast - rows of delectable pastries that make it hard to choose. I felt like a kid in a candy store, wanting to try... everything! But I decided to be a responsible adult (whatever that means) and control myself. I limited myself to two options: the Strawberry Shortcake and the Vanilla/Passionfruit Panna Cotta. * Strawberry Shortcake ($6) Dense, smooth, and SO CREAMY, with a big, JUICY strawberry hidden in center. Cliché alert: it was like biting into a little piece of heaven. The layers of cake and cream were perfectly balanced and it was not too sweet (oh yeah!). * Vanilla/Passionfruit Panna Cotta ($6.5) This was a flavor explosion! VERY tart, slightly sour, and an extra crunch from the seeds - absolute perfection. The vanilla panna cotta was smooth and creamy, a perfect counterbalance to the tangy passionfruit. And bonus points: it came in a beautifully decorated glass bottle, which means I now have a fancy new container to hoard... I mean, reuse. And the best part? This place is UNDER 10 mins away from my house! Never have I ever been this proud to live in East Elmhurst before. Absolute tears of joy! :,) Thank you Jean-Claude Perennou!

Needed to buy a small birthday cake around the Woodside area and decided on a 6" strawberry shortcake from Cannelle Patisserie based on Yelp reviews. It did not disappoint! Midafternoon on a Monday, the store was surprisingly busy. It is actually very spacious with some tables for dine in customers. I waited in line for a little bit while admiring all the goodies on display. The store was nice and clean; and the display looked very appetizing. The staff were very courteous and friendly. I asked for a 6" strawberry shortcake with "Happy Birthday" on it. It was brought out from the kitchen very efficiently. The cake was absolutely delicious! It had a lot of strawberries inside and was not too sweet. It was also very nicely decorated. I am glad I found Cannelle Patisserie and I highly recommend it!

Many years ago I had visited Cannelle Patisserie with a chef who raved about this place. Today I returned to have a Strawberry Shortcake ($6) and an Espresso ($2). These prices are unheard of in Manhattan. With seating available, I was able to savor each morsel of the chilled pastry. Service was efficient and I was able to use the unisex restroom before eating. The interior is bright with white walls and feels airy. Now this patisserie cafe is much smaller in size and the abundance of cakes and pastries is far less although the original chefs are still working here. Next visit I want to have the Palmiers which were glistening and the Vanilla Passion Fruit Panna Cotta. I was keen on taking these home but had a long journey back and with the humidity and heat these delicate desserts would not arrive in shipshape form.

My friend gifted me a Strawberry Short Cake from Cannelle Patisserie for my birthday. This cake was delicious with its' layers of fresh strawberries, vanilla cake, and British butter cream. It was moist and each bite was luscious. The 6 inches cake has about 6-8 servings. Cannelle Patisserie is a French bakery with locations in Jackson Heights and Long Island City. My friend said this is one of her favorite bakeries and I can completely understand why. Everyone needs to try their Strawberry Short Cake.

Location/Ambience: 5/5 Outside it may seem mushed between restaurants and other shops but inside does well to take advantage of the space and make it a modern bakery/cafe. There really isn't anything distinctive when identifying it. It just lets the quality of its treats, pastries, cakes, sweets do the talking. Food: 4/5: I had a sandwich + chocolate mousse cake. Sandwich was about average but chocolate mousse was excellent. It really speaks to focus of quality towards their niche and abundance of selection of sweets Staff: 5/5: They are all standing behind the cashier/glass so someone is gonna get your items easy. They are all nice. Not much interaction from them beyond the counter. Price: 4/5: Sweets cost money $$$. Spend at your leisure XD Accessibility/Layout 4/5: Parking is by a strip mall, and there is a good amount of seating but it can fill up pretty quick. Entrance is accompanied by seating of about 30 on the left and a column along the right side opposite from the cashier for an extra 10 people. Basically the classic Starbucks vibe area to lounge around if you live nearby, if not a quick drop by, buy and go.

Easy to miss unless you know it's there. There is seating and a nice open space with good lighting. I was actually in the area at another store then looked up food near me. It wasn't too crowded since I was there close to noon on a weekday. At first, I join the regular line and was trying to figure out what the express line was (thought it was for online orders). Express line is for 3 items or less or 1 cake only (no writing), also not complicated drinks. I got on the express line, got two Lemon Muffins and an espresso. Used contactless payment. I've actually been back a second time. The lemon muffins where moist and you could taste the lemon flavor on top. Parking was easy since it's a strip mall.

Cannelle Patisserie is a really cute spot, with a huge selection of baked goods. Me and my girlfriend went here fairly early in the day, and it was pretty packed. The staff was pretty friendly, even with things being quite busy. We got a few different pastries, but unfortunately, not all of them were quite as good as we were hoping. The lemon tarts and eclair were both quite good, but the brownie and chocolate croissants were not terribly enjoyable. Me and my girlfriend were both a bit disappointed by how bland the brownie was. All that aside, Cannelle Patisserie is absolutely worth a visit if you're in the area. Tons of great pastry options to choose from!

This place is my favorite French bakery in Queens! We love everything here! I mean we only Been coming here since they opened over ten years ago ... On Saturday night, we came in for a sweet treat. I ordered the chocolate mousse for my dad, a bread pudding for my mom and a chocolate vanilla panna cotta for me along with a mango kiwi for my best friend, a tiramisu for her sister and a Black Forest for her mom. All of these desserts were delicious ... had I know how good the bread pudding was, I would have bought more. Oh and what started my addiction with this place, is their red velvet cake. Trust me you can't go wrong with this place. Even their tuna on a French baguette is to die for! See you soon!

Cannelle Patisserie came to my radar by word of mouth and it was surprisingly excellent for a somewhat hidden bakery in a strip mall. In fact, I had trouble finding the signage for them initially (tip: they are located right next to the supermarket). There are a few tables in the front but a majority of the patrons here tend to order takeout. I originally ordered a couple of sweets including their Paris-Brest ($5.50), napoleon ($5.75), strawberry shortcake ($6), and their palmier ($3). The group favorites were definitely the napoleon and the strawberry shortcake, both of which were executed really well. The napoleon had a well-balanced custard and the puff pastry was just crisp enough without veering into soft/soggy territory. The strawberry shortcake was light and fluffy and the perfect size for an afternoon treat. We ended up purchasing two more napoleons, a chocolate mousse ($5), and a red velvet ($5) for the ride home. Although we stopped by Cannelle in the afternoon, they were still pumping out fresh pastries and desserts. I would absolutely love to return to try their sandwiches as well. The napoleons held up quite well, even a day after purchasing them and the staff member was kind enough to box every pastry individually to avoid cross contamination as someone in our party had a food allergy. Great service all around!
